Os vieses da biodiversidade apresentados pelo caso do parque eólico de Bald Hills

Resumo


O objetivo do presente artigo é apresentar uma reflexão ambiental e legislativa sobre o valor da legal da biodiversidade. Primeiramente, definiu-se o conceito de biodiversidade e a regulamentação internacional acerca da mesma. O estudo se baseou no caso da presença do Neophema chrysogaster, popularmente ‘papagaio do ventre laranja’, frente ao funcionamento do parque eólico de Bald Hills, Austrália, 2006. O local fora determinado devido o potencial eólico e a necessidade de desenvolvimento de formas alternativas de geração de energia limpa na região. Todavia, verificou-se a região como rota migratória do papagaio. Atualmente a espécie se encontra ameaçada de extinção devido à supressão antrópica ambiental, e sucumbiria se submetida a mais pressões ambientais. A ponderação feita concerne entre como balancear a importância e benefícios a partir dos serviços ecossistêmicos e do valor da biodiversidade de uma espécie protegida face ao funcionamento de uma usina de energia renovável; decidindo por priorizar apenas uma delas, e, condicionar a outra. Embora a discussão sobre a interação do meio ambiente com os avanços tecnológicos seja notoriamente necessária e conclusiva, as métricas que norteiam as decisões tornam-se questionáveis considerando a biodiversidade e serviços ecossistêmicos bens de uso comum do povo.
